Kenya Airways meets Eastleigh business community ahead of direct flights to Mogadishu

Nairobi, 1st  February 2024 - Kenya Airways, has today engaged with the vibrant Eastleigh business community, marking a significant step towards the commencement of its direct nonstop flights to Mogadishu, Somalia, on the 15th of February.

 

The introduction of Monday, Thursday, and Saturday flights is poised to transform travel between Nairobi and Mogadishu by reducing travel time and enhancing accessibility for passengers.

Addressing the gathering, Kenya Airways' Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Julius Thairu, underscored the airline's dedication to fostering stronger ties between Kenya and Somalia. "Kenya Airways' mission is to propel Africa's prosperity by connecting people, cultures, and markets. We execute this mission seamlessly with our partners," stated Mr. Thairu.

 

He added, “Kenya Airways looks forward to contributing significantly to the increased connectivity and collaboration between Nairobi and Mogadishu, fostering economic growth and cultural exchange. The upcoming nonstop flights represent a pivotal milestone in the airline's commitment to serving its passengers and facilitating seamless travel experiences across the region.”

 

The decision to resume flights to Mogadishu was guided by the need to forge closer business and cultural connections between the two nations. 

 

The chief guest, Member of the National Assembly, Kamukunji, Hon. Abdi Yusuf Hassan, highlighted the increasing demand for quality, reliability, and superior services, emphasising the airline's commitment to meeting these challenges head-on.


"The flights to Mogadishu are a welcome development, as many in the Eastleigh business community share robust ties with Somalia. This presents Kenya Airways with a valuable opportunity to tap into this growing market," expressed Mr. Hassan.

 

The Chairman of the Eastleigh Business District Association, Mohamed Ali, who was also present, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "On behalf of the Eastleigh business community, we are excited about Kenya Airways' decision to engage with us. We welcome this initiative, and the upcoming nonstop flights will undoubtedly boost connectivity, making it even more convenient for our businesses to thrive."
