We take pride in our engineering and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) division established in 1977, to provide engineering and maintenance services for KQ aircraft, engines and components, its subsidiaries and other carrier's fleet.

Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul

This division has over 30 years of experience in the maintenance of various fleets such as B787, B777, B737CL, B737NG, E170 and E190. The MRO facility also has dedicated structures such as interior cabin shops, non-destructive testing (NDT), machine, calibration, and component shops.

Our engineering and maintenance division uses Commsoft's Open Aviation Strategic Engineering System (OASES) MRO system to optimise operations.  

Certification and Accreditations

Our MRO division is authorized by the Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority to conduct maintenance on aircraft components. The division is an Embraer-authorized service centre.

The United States Department of Transport (DOT) has authorized it to maintain high-pressure vessels. Our Calibration Centre is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited by Kenya Accreditation Services (KENAS), a member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

KQ Hangars

We have two main hangars used for airframe maintenance. 

  1. Hangar 1 is 2,600m2 and can accommodate three narrow-body aircraft
  2. Hangar 2 is 4,800m2 and accommodates one vast body and two regional jets
