Five Must-Visit African Destinations with Kenya

Africa is a continent of remarkable diversity. Our landscapes, cultures, cuisines, and histories all unique and captivating. For the modern explorer seeking authentic and enriching experiences, the continent offers destinations that inspire awe, reflection, and connection.

Below are five must-visit destinations across the continent, each one uniquely unforgettable, and each accessible through our expansive network.

1. Zanzibar, Tanzania

Located just off the coast of mainland Tanzania, Zanzibar is a destination with immense natural beauty and cultural depth. The island’s pristine white beaches, spice farms, and historical Stone Town offer a rich blend of leisure and exploration. Visitors can take a stroll in centuries-old alleyways, taste locally grown spices, and relax by the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean.

We operate 3 daily flights from Nairobi to Zanzibar, making this tranquil island a suitable escape for a memorable holiday.

2. Accra, Ghana

Accra is one of West Africa’s most dynamic cities. From its vibrant art and music scenes to its powerful historical landmarks such as the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Cape Coast Castle, Accra provides a deep and engaging narrative for every traveler. The city is also known for its warm hospitality and rapidly evolving culinary scene.

We offer 7 flights a week (one daily) to Accra, positioning it as an all-in-one gateway for business and leisure travelers alike.

3. Kigali, Rwanda

Nestled among Rwanda’s rolling hills, Kigali offers a calm, orderly atmosphere alongside profound cultural and historical experiences. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a sobering and important site, while local markets, coffee houses, and museums provide a glimpse into Rwanda’s resilience and rebirth.

For those seeking adventure beyond the city, Kigali also has one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife encounters, gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. Just a few hours from the capital, this once-in-a-lifetime experience allows visitors to observe endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, guided by expert trackers through misty forests and rugged terrain. If you love hiking, this is an activity you’d enjoy.

We make it easy to access Rwanda’s capital and its unforgettable natural wonders with 3 daily flights.

4. Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town delivers an unforgettable experience for both leisure and business travelers, with its blend of history, creativity, and coastal charm.

Framed by the iconic Table Mountain and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the city offers breathtaking views at every turn. Visitors can explore the vibrant V&A Waterfront, hike or take the cable car up Table Mountain, visit Robben Island, or indulge in world-renowned South African cuisine and wines.

We operate direct flights from Nairobi to Cape Town, 9 times a week connecting you seamlessly to one of Africa’s most captivating destinations.

 5. Mombasa, Kenya

Mombasa is Kenya’s vibrant multi-cultural coastal city rich with Swahili, Portuguese, and Arab influences from the centuries-old Fort Jesus to the bustling Old Town. Beyond its historical charm, the city also boasts stunning white-sand beaches, world-class resorts, and warm coastal hospitality. Whether you're exploring local markets, enjoying fresh seafood, or relaxing by the ocean, your experience will be a memorable and tranquil escape.

We operate 6 daily flights from Nairobi to Mombasa, making it easy to experience the beauty and charm of Kenya’s coastline.

Whether you are seeking adventure, relaxation, cultural enrichment, or business opportunities, Africa presents a wealth of options and Kenya Airways is proud to be your trusted partner in discovering them.
